She/Her

Hello, My name is Gaitee Beu and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate, under the supervision of Lori Martin, MS, LPC-S at Terrell Counseling.

I graduated with honors from The University of Chicago in Economics and Public Policy in 2003 and since then, have been working in the public sector. I was a radio broadcast journalist for 7 years and then transitioned into public diplomacy in 2010, working as a liaison officer and cultural ambassador at the U.S. Department of State.

For almost two decades, I have been invited into people’s lives to learn about their worldviews and listen to the voice of their hearts and minds. I chose to enter the field of counseling because it felt like an organic progression in my desire to make a difference in individuals’ lives. I earned my Master's of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of the Cumberlands.

The Rogerian principles of “accurate empathy, unconditional positive regard, and genuineness” form the cornerstones of my counseling approach. I believe that therapy is a collaborative process. I am here to help others resolve past and current events in their life and assist in understanding the path for growth, recovery, and healing. My phenomenological orientation involves processing the world from your subjective frame of reference. To borrow Dr. Irvin Yalom’s words, I too “believe that a different therapy must be constructed for each patient because each has a unique story”.

I follow a combination of eclectic therapy with an emphasis on Psychodynamic theory. I am also a certified Reiki practitioner from the John Harvey Gray Center for Reiki. I am a strong advocate for a holistic approach to wellness and will do my best to incorporate integrative modalities as part of our sessions if desired. I also speak Urdu and Hindi. Clients who would prefer sessions in these languages are welcome.
