Hello! My name is Kim, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate under the supervision of Lori Martin, MS, LPC-S. I completed my Masters of science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at University of North Texas. I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Stephen F. Austin State University. I will be offering individual and group counseling here at Terrell Counseling.
I specialize in supporting adult clients facing challenges such as low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, ADHD, and trauma. I am also particularly interested in working with caregivers, immigration, BIPOC communities, and lower-income communities. Furthermore, I also have a special interest in rehabilitation counseling, and supporting clients through recovery from an acquired brain injury.
First and foremost, I strive to create and maintain a safe, warm and caring environment for each and every one of my clients. I utilize a cognitive-behavioral approach in counseling wherein I believe that there is a cyclical interaction between our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. With this, we have the power and ability to create the change we desire to see within ourselves. In this approach, collaboration between myself and my clients is a crucial component of success. Together, we will work on goal setting and develop a treatment strategy.
